State Aid, Community Energy and Creating a Green Economy

Many community energy projects have had issues over how government support leads them into complex discussions on ‘state aid’. The EU is revising its state aid rules and environment and energy aid guidelines. Now is the time to get involved in this broader discussion.

A new report by E3G for the Green European Foundation on ‘The Role of State Aid in Creating a Green Economy’, downloadable here, suggests that ‘The EU’s state aid framework must be made compatible with moving towards a low-carbon, efficient and climate-resilient economy as outlined in the Europe 2020 strategy’.  This report covers many relevant issues and makes a set of recommendations. Anyone involved / concerned should read and maybe react.
